UW - Stevens Point Math Requirements

Your score report on the Early Math Placement Tool (EMPT) indicates the level of mathematics you would most likely be placed into, if you were to enter UW-Stevens Point next fall. Use your placement level to determine your entry level mathematics course by examining the Entry Level Math Courses at UW-Stevens Point table shown below.

At some of these levels you have a choice from several courses. Find your entry level math course on the flow chart below and follow the arrows until you reach the highest mathematics course required by your desired major as found in the UW-Stevens Point Mathematics Course Sequence table. Your actual mathematics placement at UW-Stevens Point will be determined by your score on the UW-System Mathematics Placement Test. This test is similar to the EMPT, determines your actual entry level, and is given in the spring of your senior year, or the following summer. This level may be higher or lower than your EMPT level. Your entry level will very likely be higher if you take a mathematics course in your high school senior year, but probably will be lower if you do not.
